Sandro Scherf, CEO of South African aggregates processing equipment supplier Pilot Crushtec has fully acquired the company through a management buy-out (MBO). The company supplies mobile and semi-mobile, crushing, screening, recycling, sand washing and material handling equipment through a combination of equipment it manufactures itself and the distribution of other companies’ machines.

“We have real confidence in the business and in the crushing and screening industry, locally, across sub Saharan Africa and as far afield as Australasia and South America. This move puts us in a position to heighten the scale of our business, enabling us to offer customers, at home and abroad, bigger products with bigger performances,” said Mr Scherf.

A strategic alliance with Sandvik Construction signed in October 2012, saw Pilot Crushtec become the sole distributor for Sandvik’s mobile of crushing and screening equipment in Southern Africa.

“We have a management team fully motivated to take the company forward and our mission is to seek out and implement improvements in all aspects of our operations,” said Mr Scherf. “The growth of our range, especially in big high capacity products, means that we will be heavily investing in training to raise our standards despite the breadth of our ranges and increased sales.”
