The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA) have come together to create five new tip sheets on safety at work using aerial work platform (AWP) equipment.

The five tip sheets, namely AWP Jobsite Checklist, AWP Prestart Safety Checklist, Preparing AWPs for Transport, Rescue Plans for AWPs and Selecting and Implementing a Fall Protection System for an AWAP, are available to download from the SAIA website, www.saiaonline.org.

The tip sheets are designed to help the industry understand their responsibilities when operating, transporting and using AWP equipment.

“The AWP industry needs documents like this available for use. Hundreds of thousands of AWP equipment are in use through auction sales, rentals and purchasing directly from manufactures or dealers. The OSHA and SAIA alliance teams worked hard to create a significant amount of safety information. The more tip sheets we get out the safer the industry is,” said SAIA president, Marty Coughlin.
