German construction hoist manufacturer Geda has been brought in to assist in construction works as renovation continues at the Hamburg Planetarium.

Located in the middle of the Winterhude city park, the 1930s building is now being retrofitted to make more areas accessible for wheelchair users. Works are also being carried out on new modern catering outlets, sales areas, staff offices and function rooms.

Geda has installed a 1550 Z/ZP transport platform for transporting materials and goods up the 65 m high building.

The 1500 Z/ZP transport platform works as a materials hoist and a transport platform for people and loads. In "transport platform" mode, the hoist is safe to carry up to seven people in addition to 800 kg loads.

Work on the converted water tower, which houses a 20.6 m diameter projection dome, is scheduled for completion by end of 2013.
