Desert transport for Nicolas

Nicolas MHD heavy duty modules have been used to transport a 252 tonne liquid separator from Al Jubail in Saudi Arabia.

The liquid separator was transported to a gas refinery operated by Aramco in Khursaniyah. Challenges along the way included high temperatures, sandy terrain and strong winds, which caused sand drifts on the roads.

The Nicolas MHD overcame the challenges thanks to its hydraulic axle packer, which helped stabilise the load along the uphill section of the 30 km desert route. Its steering capabilities further helped with the transport, especially once inside the refinery, a spokesperson added.

The Nicolas MHD has a platform height of 845 mm when lowered and can be coupled lengthwise or crosswise, the manufacturer added.
