A further increase in Salini Impregilo’s roadbuilding operations in Poland has been confirmed with a €143 million contract for development of the S7 expressway.

It will involve creating 21.5km of dual-carriageway between Chęciny and Jędrzejów - which adds to the company’s existing work on the A1 and S8 routes.

The firm’s latest project on the S7 motorway - which runs north to south between Gdansk and Krakow, is scheduled to take nearly two years to complete.

It follows an announcement in October that Salini would be undertaking a €239 million project for another 18.4km section of the S7 north of Warsaw, between Milomlyn and Olsztynek.

With its latest work on the route, the scheme will include 11 viaducts, three interchanges, three bridges and also create underpasses for pedestrians. It will also require reconstruction of secondary roads linking to the motorway route.

Salini said its latest contract underlined the company’s focus on providing key infrastructure development with Poland.
