MBW has launched an improved version of the Ergo-Tamp vibration suppressed pneumatic pole tamper.

The overall look of the product is much different. The unit is taller, which will allow for more versatility, it is made mostly of aluminium, which has reduced its weight by more than a 5 kg compared to previous models. However, hand/arm vibration continues to be reduced by as much as 70%.

With the launch, the US-based company said it has tamed one of the industry’s most disliked and physically abusive compaction tools.

Pneumatic tampers produce hand/arm vibration levels that rank among the highest in the industry. Periodic exposure to excessive vibration is known to be a contributing factor in the development of white finger, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis and other chronic ailments.

The Ergo-Tamp allows for some variation as conditions of compaction change. The vibration absorption system easily handles the range of amplitudes typical of pneumatic tampers and is cooled by a constant flow of compressed air through its working mechanism.
