Geda emerging markets hoist makes first appearance

Geda’s latest personnel and material hoist, designed for markets outside Europe has used for the first time on a construction site.

The SBL 2000, launched at bauma Munich in April of this year, has been installed in Mumbai’s Bhayandar East district, where four interconnecting, 20-storey luxury residential towers are being built, covering 15 hectares.

Mumbai-based rental company Ispat provided the lift to construction company, Larsen & Toubro, which is using it on site. The hoist has been tailored to the needs of markets outside Europe where special solutions, aligned exactly to individual building requirements, are not required in most cases, said the manufacturer.

The SBL 2000 is therefore only available with a fixed platform size of 3.2m x 1.45m x 2.10m, a standard load capacity of 2000kg and 23 people, as well as a hoist speed of 55 m/min and a discharge head of 250 m. Nevertheless, the model has been developed and manufactured entirely in Germany, to the same exacting requirements.

The Samriddhi housing complex is the first project in Mira Bhayandar to be managed by India’s largest construction and engineering company, Larsen & Toubro, with work due to be completed in December 2017. It has been designated a Gold Certified Green Building by the Indian Green Building Council.
