JLG's Rick Smith to present on VR training

Rick Smith, senior director of global product training at JLG, will deliver a presentation titled “Training Aerial Work Platform Operators Through Virtual Reality” at the 2017 National Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association (VPPPA) Symposium Aug. 29 - Sept. 1 in New Orleans.

Smith’s presentation is part of the symposium’s series of educational workshops. He is scheduled to speak Thursday, Aug. 31 at 8:30 a.m. in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

In his presentation, Smith will define virtual reality and augmented reality, including how and when the technologies merged and grew to where they are today. Leveraging JLG’s technology and training expertise, he will demonstrate the use of virtual reality in aerial work platform operator training. The presentation will also include a demonstration of JLG’s virtual reality operator training system.

The National VPPPA Symposium brings together safety and health experts from more than 400 different industries, who are united in their mission to create safer environments for their peers and colleagues. The event features 100 workshops over three days, 300 exhibitors and numerous networking opportunities.
