Dowideit Recycling in Wustermark, Germany, has invested in Liebherr’s L 586 XPower wheeled loader model.

The L 586 XPower weighs almost 34 t and has a tip load of 22,500 kg (49,600 lb). According to Liebherr it can operate for around 10 hours a day and consumes an average of 14.8 l of fuel per hour when loading.

Dowideit selected the model for its low fuel consumption and adaptive lighting.

The loader is offered with a lighting control system option, which optimises the light conditions in the front section when the working attachment is raised. Liebherr said this creates an illuminated operating area in which glare, reflections and shadows are reduced for the machine operator.

The upper edge of the cab is equipped with four dimmable working headlights and two standard driving headlights, which help to ensure a higher level of safety. The manufacturer said this was particularly useful for operators working in poor light conditions.

Thomas Dowideit, managing director, said: “Thanks to the adaptive working lighting, the wheel loader operating area is completely illuminated. There is now a better overview of shaded areas and other areas which are difficult to see during loading. This increases safety on our site and makes daily work easier for my machine operators.”

Dowideit, which sells its recycled materials through a specialist soil subsidiary to the roadbuilding and landscaping markets, is already using two of the machines in the preparation process of its building rubble recycling.
