Terex Utilities has updated the monitor display for its Load Alert system on vehicle mounted aerial devices.

The system, which monitors and analyzes the truck’s jib and platform capacity and boom positions on Terex aerial devices, had previously provided just an audible alert when an overload was detected.

Now, the Load Alert system’s initial screen indicates that the system is operational and, during operations, turns red if an overload is detected. At this point the audible alert will also sound and the word “overload” will appear on the screen. The system will then provide a dial read-out showing the percentage of overload for either the platform or the jib or both.

Kevin Stutzman, Terex engineering manager, said, “The system supplements users’ safe work practices by providing immediate feedback to an operator. As an option, it is also possible to send a notification report via text or email to a specified location. For example, notifications to fleet departments provide can provide information to assist with maintenance protocols.”

In addition, the display now also features a full load chart in addition to the printed load chart, to assist operators with staying within the operating limits of the aerial device.

If an overload is detected, the Load Alert screen turns red, displays “overload,” and a dial read-out shows the percentage of overload for either the platform or the jib or both.
