HCC takes Kishanganga Dam contract

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) and Halcrow have won a joint venture contract to construct the 330 MW Kishanganga hydro-electric project (HEP) on the Kishanganga river in the Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir, India.
India's National Hydroelectric Power Corporation's INR 2726 Crore (US$ 554 million) project involves construction of a 37m high concrete faced rockfill dam, 23.5 km of head race tunnel and an underground powerhouse. The maximum head will be 665 m.
An EPC contract, HCC will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction of all items including civil and associated infrastructure works; supply, installation, testing and commissioning of all electromechanical plant & machinery and hydro-mechanical components including generating units.
The project will be completed & commissioned in an estimated 84 months.
HCC has previously worked on several of Jammu & Kashmir's infrastructure projects, including construction of the state's largest HEP project - the Salal Dam.
It is currently developing five other infrastructure projects, including the Chutak HEP project in Kargil, the Nimoo Bazgo HEP project in Leh and the URI HEP project.
