Three Grove RT550E rough terrain cranes have been put to work at several industrial sites in Italy.

One of the 45 tonne capacity cranes is working at an oil refinery in Falconara, on the east coast of Italy. It is owned by crane rental company O.MEC. Work for the rough terrain includes dismantling equipment.

A second RT550E, owned by I.COM, is working at the Eni-Polimeri Europa biochemical complex in Porto Torres, Sardinia. Work for the crane includes material handling and helping to construct steel frames.

The third crane was bought by Italian electrical infrastructure construction company CEIE Power. It is being used to install power lines.

The RT550E rough terrain has a maximum reach of 47 metres when fitted with an 8 m fixed swingaway jib. It is 12 m long and 2.55 m wide. All three Groves delivered are fitted with Manitowoc’s Crane Control System.

Federico Lovera, EMEA product manager at Manitowoc, says, “Industrial job sites need cranes that can handle a variety of work and do jobs quickly. Our RT550E is designed to make life easier for the operator. The Crane Control System automatically configures boom length to suit specific loads and radius so operators can perform more lifts in a shorter time.”
