EWPA releases Good Practice Guide

The Elevating Work Platform Association (EWPA) in Australia has released its Good Practice Guide for Mobile Elevating Work Platforms.
The document, available to the public as an online resource, outlines safe working practices for the operation and maintenance of MEWPS.
The guide was developed by the association with input from numerous access industry bodies. Access Hire, JLG Industries, Manitou Australia, Coates Hire, Genie, Kennards Hire and Haulotte Australia, where among more than 20 organisations that contributed.
While the guide covers safe work practices designed to help duty holders meet the current Work (Occupational) Health and Safety Acts and Regulations in Australia, it also includes what the association describes as “the latest body of knowledge” on MEWPS.
James Oxenham, EWPA’s CEO, said, “The EWPA is committed to promoting the safe use of MEWPs. The Good Practice Guide has been developed to consolidate guidance notices and other safety information that has been produced by the EWPA, providing one central document that outlines the safe work practices on how to use and maintain MEWPs.”
Reviewed and updated regularly by the EWPA and its technical and training sub committees, the Good Practice Guide is available for free in the ’Resources’ section on the EWPA’s website.
