Terex Corporate issued a statement regarding COVID-19 on March 18, stating production is still occuring but steps have beent aken to ensure the safety of its team members, customers and communities.
“At Terex, our top priority is safety. As a global organization, we have manufacturing and support sites in many parts of the world, including some greatly impacted by coronavirus COVID-19 – China, Italy and locations in Washington State (U.S.)
“We know that our customers and suppliers are also closely monitoring the likely impact of the virus on their businesses. Although the pace at which the situation is changing has been accelerating, we are continuing to produce our products and serve the needs of our customers, while taking precautions to protect the health and safety of our team members, our customers, our suppliers and the communities in which we all live and work.”
Terex AWP’s Genie brand is taking the following steps to safeguard its team members, customers and communities:
• Allowing the travel of healthy and unexposed team members to customers by vehicle only.
• Air travel has been suspended for all team members unless mission critical to our operation or our customers.
• Limiting visits of customers, suppliers and others to our facilities.
• Team members are using social distancing and sanitization processes to minimize risk to them and their families.
• Complying with any restrictions customers decide prudent, as well as any restrictions or laws mandated by specific regions and countries.
“As a global company embracing digital technology, Terex has a lot of flexibility in how we operate,” the company continued. “All quoting, design and other customer support functions will continue using technology. For example, we have invested in a suite of world-class communications tools that enable team members to conduct business with customers ‘virtually’ using video conferencing technology.”
The company said the current product planning environment is uncertain “and volatile, but as industry leaders, we have three very important responsibilities: The constant and ongoing responsibility to keep our team members safe; As citizens, to do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19; The responsibility to operate our business as effectively as possible to meet our commitments to customers, shareholders and team members.”
