The ERA Sustainability Committee met on 19 September in Paris, hosted by Loxam. Among the topics on the agenda, the priority item was the new project launched by ERA to measure the Positive Environmental Impact of Rental.

The rental industry operates in a circular business model. As such, rental companies contribute to the transformation towards a more circular economy. By optimising the utilisation rate of equipment, preventing equipment being unused, limiting storage space required, and minimising waste and material usage by recycling where possible, the sector has the potential to contribute significantly to carbon reduction. This contribution, however, has not been comprehensively mapped and quantified. This project aims to fill that void.

The initiative will be managed by Climate Neutral Group (CNG), a social venture established in 2002 by Foundation Doen and Triodos Bank. CNG is the Benelux market leader in the field of emission reduction and carbon offsetting.

The ERA team will report regularly on the progress of the project.

The Sustainability Committee is growing but still looking for more volunteers from rental companies. It is open to every member of ERA. If you are interested in joining, or if you wish to receive more information on the activities of the Committee, please do not hesitate to contact the ERA team, at era@erarental.org.
