The bC Expo India 2016 trade show has officially opened today (Monday, 12 December).

The show – which takes place from 12 December to 15 December, in New Delhi – has attracted 650 exhibitors across the 150,000m² of space.

During his opening ceremony speech, Igor Palka, CEO, bC Expo India, said it expected 30,000 visitors to attend over the four days, while the show would prove to be a “great platform” for the Indian construction market.

He added that the Asian construction market had suffered “unsteady times”, but said that India was the shining light.

Industry analysts Off-Highway Research said it expected construction equipment sales in India to grow 27% in 2016, with double-digit increases to follow in 2017 and 2018. It added that this should see sales volumes beat the previous record of 72,197 units, which was recorded in 2011.

Palka said he believed the growing number of visitors expected at the show justified its importance to the national and global construction markets.
