Polish market grows and matures

27 October 2017

Sales of construction equipment in Poland are expected to rise 30% over the next three to five years, according to Off-Highway Research, the specialist consultant and forecasting company, which added that the market would level off at almost 5,000 units per year from 2019 to 2021.

Mini excavator

One of the key findings of the new report, The Construction Equipment Industry in Poland, is that the market is showing signs of maturity. Sales were previously dominated by backhoe loaders, but last year this type of equipment was out-sold two-to-one by mini excavators.

“There is much debate about what the future holds for backhoe loaders. It is clear that mini excavators are becoming a lot more widespread, and it is equally clear from other markets that this normally signifies the end of a period of dominance by backhoes. However, affection for backhoes in Poland remains deep seated and there is no widespread feeling that the concept has yet become obsolete,” said the report.

In addition, telescopic handlers are increasingly popular in Poland, although agriculture, rather than construction is adopting the concept quicker.

The study covers 16 types of construction equipment and includes a five-year forecast. Click here for more information.
