Sweden-based construction company Skanska has signed an additional US$74 million contract for a mixed-use development project at Fifth + Broadway in Nashville, US.

Said to be one of Nashville’s largest single mixed-use developments, the project includes the demolition of the outdated Nashville Convention Centre; the construction of 21,800m2 of new retail and entertainment space; a 25-storey, 35,700m2 office building; a 34-storey residential tower with more than 350 units; and more than 2,000 parking spaces.

Nashville’s need for additional retail and entertainment space has been attributed largely to an increase in tourism in recent years.

Construction work began in 2017 and is slated for completion in May 2020.
