A new automated machine designed to replace railway points has been delivered to French rail network owner, manager and operator SNCF Réseau using a trailer from Luxembourg-based trailer manufacturer Faymonville.

A Faymonville Multimax 1+3 semi-trailer was used to transport the 38 tonne machine, complying fully with French category two heavy load transportation regulations. The trailer was used in conjunction with a 6x4 MAN truck.

According to Faymonville, the Multimax 1+3 has a width of 2.99 metres and an extra-long loading platform length of 17 m. The company said it has a technical load distribution of 25 tonnes on the gooseneck and 11.5 tonnes on each axle.

The gooseneck is hydraulically adjustable in height to balance out uneven ground, said Faymonville, while the lashing rings are inwardly and outwardly foldable – even when the vehicle is loaded.

The pneumatic suspension system has a stroke of 200mm and the hydraulically steered axles allow a steering angle of up to 42 degrees.
