Sankyu bridge project

Japanese logistics, engineering and heavy lift specialist, Sankyu, has transported a prefabricated bridge – weighing around 50 tonnes and with a length of 40 metres – across the centre of the Japanese city of Nagasaki. The bridge now connects Nagasaki and the island of Dejima, in the bay of Nagasaki.

To transport the bridge through the densely-built urban area Sankyu used 12 lines of self propelled modular transporter from Scheuerle, part of German heavy load transportation specialist Tii Group. “Sankyu has been relying on self-propelled transport solutions from Tii Group for a long time,” said Ralf Grützmacher, area manager sales at Tii Sales responsible for the Asian markets. “Manoeuvring the 40 metre long Dejima bridge through the old town of Nagasaki required experience and precise vehicle control. Here, our vehicles along with the Sankyu specialists did an excellent job.”

According to the Tii Group, Sankyu has been a long-standing customer and has more than 250 of its SPMT axle lines.
