They are Scania 5580/650A6X4NZ Premium Highline XT spec tractor units compliant with the FORS & CLOCS transport safety schemes and they are DVS20/20 permitted, Ainscough said. Safety features fitted include lane departure warning, electronic braking and an electronic stability programme. Also fitted is a five-channel live-streaming CCTV system with sensors to help detect vulnerable road users.

The 5580 has a 16 litre V8 engine with higher torque to help reduce diesel consumption. A battery maintainer system allows use of electrical power onboard without having to run the engine, which helps reduce exhaust emissions and uses less fuel.

Marcus Gough, Ainscough head of transport, said, “The arrival of these ten Scania trucks reflects our commitment to continually investing in our fleet for the benefit of our customers and staff. With the arrival of such a large number of specialist heavy haulage trucks at this time, we are ensuring that we’re able to continue delivering excellent services for clients across the country. Combined with the recent addition of two Liebherr MK 88-4.1s [mobile folding tower cranes], our fleet continues to go from strength to strength.”
