A 28 tonne capacity articulated pick and carry crane has been launched by Tidd Ross Todd in Australia.

The Tidd PC28 is a has an 18.64 metre full power synchronised boom in three sections plus the base. It slews 44 degrees each side for good manoeuvrability. The chart is 75 percent stationary and 66 % pick and carry. Maximum lifting radius is 21.5 metres with the boom horizontal. Axle load is 12 tonnes for road travel and that includes the 2.3 tonne removable counterweight mounted on the front.

A Robway RCI8510 dynamic load indicator is fitted and there is a deadlock switch in the cabin to allow a temporary 110 % capacity, at reduced operating speed. An optional Slew Safe system can be fitted to help prevent the crane from rolling over. It is designed to restrict the crane driver from operating off the chart by sounding and displaying alarms, plus restricting the steering travel.

Its six-cylinder, 6.4 litre, OM906 Mercedes turbo diesel engine produces 205 kW. It gives a road speed of 80 km/h via an Allison 3000 series six speed automatic transmission. Drive is via a Meritor transfer box and Kessler axles with a locking differential on the front. Full ABS braking is complemented by two-stage engine and exhaust brake, the manufacturer said.
