Equipment rental company Boels Rental is adding the Barreto 30SGB stump grinder to its rental product range, based on positive customer feedback relating to Vanguard’s V-Twin engine.
The Netherlands-based company will introduce the new stump grinder units, which feature the Vanguard V-Twin engine, across its European network as part of what is being called a strategic collaboration with engine manufacturer Briggs and Stratton.
Guy Cremer, Boels’ director of fleet operations, said, “We have used Vanguard V-Twin engines in our fleet for some time now. They have proven to be extremely reliable and durable, delivering greater productivity standards and ultimately improving the end-user satisfaction which is a key point of differentiation for us.”

An offshoot of Barreto’s TK track trencher, the 30SG stump grinder features a hydraulically-driven cutter wheel and is powered by a 31hp (23kW) Briggs & Stratton Vanguard V-Twin engine. The engine is coupled to two gear pumps, with the larger gear pump driving the cutter wheel while the smaller pump works the tilt and swing cylinders.
Paul Bramhall, Brigss & Stratton’s Senior Manager Marketing of Commercial Engines, said, “Our close collaboration with Boels Rental and its OEMs like Barreto is key to delivering the best product to the market. By aligning our Vanguard power solutions with Barreto’s equipment - based on Boels Rental’s needs and that of their customers - we can offer real added value.”
