Technical Committee holds telematics workshop

A subgroup of the Technical Committee, made of fleet managers of rental companies and representatives of OEMs, met on 18 September in Brussels to brainstorm on Telematics, including on what the rental companies want to achieve / improve using Telematics and on the data they would then need, to achieve those objectives.

For the OEMs attending the workshop, it is the opportunity to better understand the needs of the rental companies and how they can deliver the data needed by the rental companies.

On the other hand, the rental companies also want to hear from the OEMs what their expectations are using Telematics and which data they may need for that.

During the summer, a survey on Telematics was sent to the fleet managers and to the OEMs and the answers were used as starting point of the discussion.

Both the rental companies and the OEMs agree that, without a fruitful collaboration between them, the potential of Telematics will not be maximised and they committed, as a first step, to work at the analysis of data required for each product categories.

The Technical Committee is looking for more volunteers from the rental companies and is open to every member of ERA. If you are interested in joining, or if you wish to receive more information on the works of the Committee, please do not hesitate to contact the ERA team, at era@erarental.org.
