UK construction slows in third quarter

UK construction orders in the third quarter dropped -5% on second quarter figures to UK£ 8,7 billion (€ 9,6 billion) according to the latest report from the Office for National Statistics.

Private housing orders in the three months to October rose by +5% over the second quarter, but were still down -1% on the same period in 2008. Year-on-year for the 12 months to October, private housing orders were down -39%.

Infrastructure orders in the third quarter fell by -16% on second quarter figures, but still represented a +73% increase on the same period of 2008, up from UK£ 1,2 billion (€ 1,3 billion) to UK£ 2,3 billion (€ 2,6 billion).
