€2 billion Romanian roadbuilding contracts in pipeline

The Romanian National Company for Motorways & National Roads (CNADNR) is planning tenders in early 2013 for two major contracts worth up to a combined RON8.8 billion (€2 billion), according to information provider PMR.

The design build, finance, operation and maintenance concession contracts are being prepared for a 121 km road between Craiova in northeast Romania and Pitesti towards the centre, and a 133 km road linking the north-eastern cities of Ploiesti, Buzau and Focsani.

The contract for the motorway section linking Craiova and Pitesti is estimated to range between RON3.7 billion (€833 million) and RON4.9 billion (€1.1 billion), while the Ploiesti-Buzau-Focsani contract is expected to be worth between RON4.4 billion (€991 million) and RON5.9 billion (€1.3 billion).
