34th German Blasting Congress to be held at Siegen

The Deutscher Sprengverband has announced that its 34th Annual Blasting Congress will be held on 13-14 April 2012, in Siegen in the North Rhine Westphalia region of Germany. The congress will be centered around four main themes:

  • Drilling and blasting technologies for demolition, rock cutting, quarrying, tunnelling, mining, petrochemical and seismic applications;
  • Explosives and detonating devices - their properties, testing and applications, with particular attention to current trends in development'
  • Current developments in the field of pyrotechnics;
  • Applicable laws and regulations relevant to the manufacture, storage and transportation of explosives and pyrotechnic items.

The event normally attracts around 300 experts from Germany and surrounding countries, with attendees including explosive practitioners, governmental representatives and manufacturers. Attendance for non-members is €100 (€60 for members)

Immediately prior to the Congress on 12th April, two workshops will be held covering the implementation of labelling Directive 2008/43 using TTE software, and the preparation and implementation of blasting during construction works using checklists and case studies.
