Putzmeister has developed two new truck-mounted concrete placing booms in the 60 m vertical reach class ” the largest size machines currently available from any supplier in the world.

The generic product designation for Putzmeister's new machines is M 6X, but customers can chose between two variants. The flagship is the 62.2 m reach M 63, which has a five-section boom. Slightly smaller, with 60.2 m of vertical reach is the M 61, which has a six-piece boom. The two machines therefore represent the choice between maximum possible reach and greater flexibility

Both booms are mounted on a six-axle chassis, which was derived from a standard production four-axle chassis. The M 6X, configured for most European customers, has four steered axles and three driven wheel pairs. With a gross weight of less than 60 tonnes, the truck mounted booms meet roading requirements in Germany and most other countries. Different laws on axle loads and intervals in much of the US entail the use of a seven-axle chassis for this market.

The outrigger system on the M 6X is Putzmeister's proven TRDV system, which is fitted to its existing M 52 and M 58 booms. One of the key features is One-Side-Support (OSS), which allows the M 6X to be safely supported in a space just 8.8 m wide at the front or 8.3 m at the rear.
