Cat machines repair Parisian road
24 August 2009
Equipment from Caterpillar has been used by French contractor Linea BTP to reconstruct a busy intersection in the centre of Paris near the Eiffel Tower.
Machines used in the project included, a CB434D asphalt compactor, a CB24 vibratory utility compactor, a 906 compact wheeled loader as well as a Bitelli BB621C tracked paver finisher.
According to Catepillar's French dealer, Bergerat Monnoyeur, the machines were specifically suited to work in the site's restricted space.
CEO of Linea BTP, Michel Cottot said, "We acquired these machines because 80% of our work is carried out in urban areas where space is at a premium. This meant we required equipment adapted to these types of situations."
To avoid traffic interruptions, the entire project was completed over a three-night period. The paving and compaction took place after more than 220 tonnes of material was removed using two Cat cold planers, a Bitelli SF200 and SF60.
