Cummins vice chairman to speak at Diesel Progress Summit

Tony Satterthwaite, vice chairman of Cummins, Inc., will be a keynote speaker at the third Diesel Progress Summit and Awards, to be held Oct. 26 in Rosemont, Ill.

The theme of the Summit, which will be held at the Loew’s Chicago O’Hare Hotel, is “Power Technologies for Today and Tomorrow.” Satterthwaite will discuss how the industry will transition from conventional engines to new power technologies.

Satterthwaite assumed the role of vice chairman in March and also holds a senior executive position in the chairman’s office. From October 2019 until March 2021, he was the company’s president and chief operating officer, leading Cummins through significant business and global challenges.

Satterthwaite’s keynote address will open the afternoon session of the Diesel Progress Summit. The morning session will begin with a keynote address from Dr. Frank Hiller, chairman of the executive board of Deutz AG, the engine and power system specialist headquartered in Cologne, Germany. Dr. Hiller will discuss the status of combustion engines and power alternatives.

Along with the keynote addresses, the day will include presentations on improvements in combustion engine technologies as well as detail the growing slate of alternatives, including hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen combustion engines and battery-electric systems.

In addition to the technical program, there will be a pre-Summit reception on Oct. 25, networking sessions during the day, and a drinks reception and dinner in the evening. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Diesel Progress Awards, which cover eight separate categories:

  • Engine of the Year Under 175 Hp.
  • Engine of the Year Over 175 Hp.
  • Employer of the Year.
  • Electric/Hybrid Application of the Year.
  • North American Engine Distributor of the Year.
  • International Engine Distributor of the Year.
  • New Power Technology of the Year.
  • The Diesel Progress Achievement of the Year.
