Dusseldorf demolition

19 March 2008

Renovation work on an evangelist church on one of central Dusseldorf's main streets required the removal of a heavily reinforced 200 m2 concrete ceiling, but the presence of a car park under the building prevented the use of a heavy machine, as did a narrow entrance to the building. German contractor Wikie therefore selected one of the smallest machines in JCB's range of mini excavators, a JCB Micro weighing just over 1 tonne and only 0.7 m (2.3 ft) wide. The machine was fitted with a JCB Hammermaster HM60 to bring the ceiling down.
