Favelle Favco is building its largest offshore crane to date, the model PC1000. The luffing jib crane has a maximum capacity of 1,000 tonnes at 22 m radius and 121.4 tonnes at 99.3 m outer radius. The crane will be fitted on a jack-up barge with two main hoist hooks which will help operators lift long pieces. The main hoist will have two 100 tonne winches.

The company has also secured a deal to build a fully electric offshore crane for a jack-up drilling rig. The crane will incorporate Kroll technology into existing Favco offshore crane designs. The 45 tonne capacity crane will be fitted with frequency controlled AC Motors with a power factor of 1. The 15 tonne main hoist will be powered by a 110kW motor and the system will have gross overload protection features, said the company
