GAP and Amey are collaborating to increase safety awareness.

The first joint safety awareness days were held on Amey sites to promote health and safety messages to Amey employees and to optimise the use of plant and tools supplied by GAP. The success of these events has prompted both companies to extend the safety day idea throughout their businesses.

"The Safety Awareness days were great successes in raising awareness of current Health ad Safety issues", said Steve Cooper, GAP's business development director, "We are looking forward to rolling them out to our other customers over the next year so that they can benefit from the initiative too."

GAP, based in Glasgow, Scotland and with 58 depots across the UK, is one of Amey's preferred suppliers, a status that is ongoing until 2011. The rental company is also exclusive supplier to Amey Logistics of excavators up to 8 t.

It said key suppliers, such as Kubota, Bomag, Wacker, Stihl, Indespension and Probst facilitate the programme.
