IMT launches service crane

Iowa Mold Tooling (IMT) has introduced a 6,000 pound (2.7 tonne) capacity crane for service trucks in the USA.

It launched the 6000 model at the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) Convention in Indianapolis, USA this week. Rated at 39,000 foot-pounds, the crane has 22 feet (6.7 m) of reach and is suited to IMT Dominator I and Dominator II mechanic truck bodies, said the manufacturer, an Oshkosh Corporation-owned company.

With the addition of the 6000, the IMT Series III telescopic crane range is seven models in capacities from 6,000 to 14,000 pounds (2.7 to 6.4 tonnes). The manufacturer upgraded the structure and stability of its Dominator mechanics trucks to support the expanded crane capabilities.

All models in the IMT Series III have the patent-pending Penta Boom design. "With a flat top that eliminates stress concentrations inherent with certain boom designs and a half hex that controls tracking at long reaches, the innovative five-sided boom offers outstanding strength and durability," said Jim Hasty, IMT vice president and general manager.

Other features include a negative boom angle of ten degrees and fully proportional pistol grip radio remote control offering traditional fit and operation.
