IPAF launches 'advanced' PAL+ training licence

26 June 2012

The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has rolled-out an advanced training course for its Powered Access Licence (PAL) qualification.

The PAL+ training course provides further training for operators of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) working in higher risk or challenging environments.

PAL+ is a one-day advanced add-on training course that complements the existing PAL operator course. It is open to operators who hold an existing PAL qualification and includes theory and practical tests in four categories of choice. These are static vertical, static boom, mobile vertical and mobile boom.

IPAF called on representatives from the access industry to assist in developing the new course, with contractors and the UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE) brought in to ensure the PAL+ course was relevant to end-users and safety authorities.

The new course is already available from selected IPAF-approved training centres in the UK.
