The new Kobelco was Nordic Crane’s first from the Japanese manufacturer and it was the first model with a luffing jib in Norway

A luffing jib was a key feature for Nordic Crane when it put its new Kobelco CKE1350G-2 to work in Norway.

The 135 tonne capacity lattice boom crawler was used to complete construction of a logistics and distribution centre for logistics provider DSV near Oslo. It was rigged with a 32 metre main boom and a 32 metre luffing jib.

Nordic Crane was working for pre-cast concrete producer Contiga Heidelberg Cement at the site on the outskirts of Oslo near the ring road. The crane was delivered there using a step deck trailer and six flatbed trailers from Nordic Crane’s own fleet. Duties included lifting pre-cast concrete and steel elements, weighing up to 15 tonnes, at a radius of 26 metres to a height of 8 metres.

Commenting on the job Trond Strøm, Nordic Crane general manager, said, “The CKE1350G-2’s excellent manoeuvrability and versatile luffing jib and main boom combination have proved to be the right choice for this job. We have been impressed with the after sales service of the Kobelco team and look forward to using our new CKE1350G-2 on the next job and strengthening our relationship with Kobelco Cranes further.”
