The move will see Kuhn Bohemia offering services such as equipment rental, 3D data creation, jobsite set up and on-site advisory, supported by Komatsu’s Smart Construction to help customers digitally transform their business.

Meanwhile Komatsu said the knowledge gained will be harnessed, enabling Smart Construction to innovate solutions to meet customers’ needs.

Richard Clement, Deputy General Manager of Smart Construction, said, “The combination of the local knowledge on construction standards and methods from Kuhn Bohemia and the global knowledge from the Smart Construction team forms an incredibly powerful force of change which can then be applied to the customer’s unique requirements.”

Daniel Sys, Managing Director of Kuhn Bohemia said,

“Offering Smart Construction services can give our customers added value which is already requested today and it will surely be necessary in the future. Our customers can cooperate with us as a one-stop-shop for the right solutions, services and advice, and this will be very beneficial to them.”

Komatsu confirmed Smart Construction is currently focused on growing its partnership network across Europe.

Launched in 2015 to improve efficiency and address the labour shortage in the Japanese construction industry, Smart Construction is active across Japan, Europe, North America and Australia.

It provides solutions for earthmoving projects from bidding to reporting, including building a 3D world with drone surveying data to finding haulage routes, using data to track of and optimise machine usage.

In separate news, Komatsu has added Smart Construction Drone and Smart Construction Field to its Jobsite Solutions Suite

Machine data reports generated by Smart Construction Field can track jobsite conditions, machine utilisation and fuel distribution, receipts, timecards and subcontractor work.

Meanwhile Smart Construction Drone survey technology captures data on quantities for production tracking and billing without the need for manual surveys.
