Mammoet received the keys to a new 500 tonne LR 1500 from Liebherr at the Bauma exhibition in Munich this week. Jan Kleijn, mammoet CEO, was there for the ceremony, along with several members of the Mammoet team.

Kleijn said, "We've had a longstanding relationship with Liebherr over many years and they have listened to our feedback when creating new models. The LR 1500 had the features we were looking for and we look forward to putting it to work.

"Mammoet has 1,500 cranes at present with 350 being crawler cranes. If the 1500 proves to be as good as we hope, we will definitely be placing more orders."

The LR 1500 was released in June 2015 and has a maximum component weight of 45 tonnes for unrestricted transport around the world. Liebherr describes the model as having enormous hoist heights as the 84 metre luffing jib can be installed on a main boom up to 84 m long.
