Manitou’s Special Solutions division has completed work on three of its recent orders for highly specialised pieces of equipment, delivering a uniquely designed ’scaler’ jackhammer attachment to a mining company in Peru and a specially designed aerial platform to two customers in France.

The division, which designs highly customised equipment and attachment to customers operating in specialist sectors, created the scaler jackhammer attachment for installation on a telehandler being used at a mine in Peru. Designed to detach unstable blocks from the ceilings of mine tunnels, the attachment allows workers to make tunnels safe before they are used.

Manitou’s Special Solutions department has also delivered aerial platforms equipped with ultrasonic sensors and cameras to the aerospace industry in France. The baskets’ adaptations were designed to optimise aircraft maintenance by reducing operating times.

The division also developed a basket to aid in asbestos removal for another company in France. It said the basket, which was installed on a rotating telehandler, would allow operators to remove asbestos more safely and in accordance with regulations.

Andrea Diena, product development manager for attachments, said, “Because of this division, we are able to provide real added value to our users. By offering better productivity for the machine/attachment pair, we provide optimal safety for the operator and the machine.”

Manitou’s Special Solutions division is supported by its Attachment Competence Center (ACC) – a dedicated team responsible for designing 85% of the company’s telehandler attachments and for producing 70% of them.
