Modular Space Corp (ModSpace) in the US has formed an alliance with portable storage rental company Moveable Cubicle.

The alliance will give ModSpace “priority access” to Moveable's fleet of 20 ft and 40 ft steel storage containers in North America. The agreement, announced on 21 August, follows a successful one-year trial.

Charles Paquin, president and chief executive officer of ModSpace, said the link with Moveable Cubicle would enable it to offer a better service to its customers; “We believe that modular offices and portable storage are two complementary products that will improve our customers' productivity.”

ModSpace is the name for the business formed by Resun Corp following its acquisition of the GE Modular Space operation in North America.

Richard Whelan, president and chief executive officer of Moveable Cubicle, which is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, said the agreement “enables the roots of our companies to grow deeper. Both companies will benefit from working together.”

This latest announcement follows just weeks after portable accommodation companies Algeco and Williams Scotsman announced plans to merge. Williams Scotsman's chief executive officer, Gerry Holthaus, told IRN that he saw portable space as a great growth opportunity for the combined business.
