Hiab, part of Cargotec, has launched a new mid-range application crane designed for the German market.

The Hiab XS 177K has a 17 tonne-metre rating and offers high load-cycle speeds and high precision, the manufacturer said. It is available in radio remote control (HiPro) or manual control (Pro) versions. Target customers are "drop and go" transport companies handling palletised loads.

Leif Törnblom, Hiab product manager, mid-range loader cranes, said, “We have just made the best even better. Our German customers have very precise requirements for moving building materials, and we have worked closely with them to tailor-make the crane to this application. We are delighted to be able to say that the new Hiab XS 177 HiPro remote-controlled crane has a speed and precision that is outstanding in the marketplace.”

The XS 177K has a long first boom and chain-driven extensions, a high operating seat, easy-to-use push buttons on the stabiliser control interface. Improved display panels show service requirements, error codes, and information from the Variable Stability Limit (VSL) system, the manufacturer added. Also fitted is the Hiab Space X4 electronic safety system, which is used to monitor crane performance.
