Global contractor WeBuild has revealed that, as of the start of 2022, it had €2 billion (US$2.1 billion) in new orders and approximately €4 billion (US$4.2 billion) in the process of being finalised and for which the Group is the preferred bidder.

The amount related to Webuild and its subsidiaries awarded contracts or preferred bidder status rises to €19 billion (US$19.8 billion) when including the US$16 billion mega contract signed in the US for a high-speed railway in Texas.

The new orders regard 17 projects, more than 80% of which are located in so called ‘low-risk’ countries in Europe and North America. They are in sectors such as roads (46%), rail (28%), building (21%) and plants (5%).

Webuild said that the orders pose a big opportunity for the Group’s entire supply chain. Numbering 8,000, these companies are involved in the construction of 27 large infrastructure projects across Italy. The contractor added that sustainability is the main focus of the Group’s commercial policy and that 92% of its projects related to achieving sustainable development targets.
