Rental Solutions & Services (RSS), the Dubai-based renter of power, temporary cooling and mobile water solutions, has installed 19000TR (66,820kW) of cooling equipment in Abu Dhabi and claimed it has a 50% share of the cooling market in the city.

RSS said Abu Dhabi had significantly increased its demand for temperature control equipment in response to economic recovery and efforts to diversify its economy beyond the oil and gas sector.

"Abu Dhabi's oil and gas, petrochemical and refineries are still the prime mover of its GDP", said Robert Bagatsing, RSS group marketing director.

"However, the non-petroleum related businesses such as construction, heavy industries, hospitality, healthcare, maritime and logistics has been very active since the first quarter of 2011, thus demand for cooling, especially during summer months has tremendously been overwhelming for all rental companies like RSS."

RSS equipment is currently operating at two hospitals, the largest mall in Abu Dhabi, the largest sports centre, ships, aviation hangers and more than 20 high rise towers.

In addition it is augmenting the cooling supply of the three largest district cooling companies in Abu Dhabi during construction, bridging the gap between supply and demand. Its temporary chiller packages are either connected to the district cooling plants, to the DC pipe network or directly to buildings.

Mr Bagatsing said; "UAE's capital has an estimated rental cooling demand of 40000 TR (tonne refrigeration) (140,674 kW), which RSS has a market share of 50%, making us the market leader in temperature control equipment hires."

Milan Balac, managing director of RSS, said; "Since RSS started its operations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, we have achieved rental breakthrough records for installing the biggest temporary cooling package in the world, the largest rental chiller installation into a single header connection point, the largest chiller hire contract and largest rental cooling supplier for the transportation sector."

Temperature during summer months in the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC) can reach up to 50 degrees C, fuelling the demand for temporary chiller installations and other air-cooled hire packages.
