Austria-based plant manufacturer SBM Mineral Processing, part of the MFL Corporate Group, is continuing to run all its departments.

Despite the Coronavirus pandemic, the company said it believes it has enough work to carry on with and that it would try to do so without using the Austrian government’s short-time work programme, which aims to reduce unemployment during times of an economic slowdown.

In a statement to customers, the company’s managing director, Erwin Schneller, said, “There are certainly companies that need this support more than we do. We also do not want to dismiss any employees at all so that we can be there for you [our customers] with the same work force after this crisis as it was before.”

The compay said, while it may have to navigate the pandemic by balancing idle time with sending people home on vacation, its supply chain so far remains unaffected by the Covid-19 outbreak and its Spare and Wear Parts stores is sufficiently filled.

Schneller added, “I believe that, while ensuring the safety of our employees and as much as possible within the restrictions, we simply have to keep the industry going to get through this crisis.”
