Promoted by the US Department of Labor through OSHA (the Occupational Health and Safety Administration), Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide event – held each August – that recognises the successes of workplace health and safety programmes and offers information and ideas on how to keep workers safe.

More than 1,500 organisations have already signed up, including around 50 from outside the USA.

The organiser said: “Successful safety and health programmes can proactively identify and manage workplace hazards before they cause injury or illness, improving sustainability and the bottom line.

“Participating in Safe + Sound Week can help get your programme started, energise an existing one, or provide a chance to recognise your safety successes.”

It added that all organisations looking for an opportunity to recognise their commitment to safety are welcome to participate.
