World of Concrete to proceed in-person

The show floor from WOC in 2020 - the event will welcome guests back in June

The World of Concrete (WOC) show has been officially approved to be held in person in Las Vegas, US, from June 8-10.

The construction industry tradeshow received Large Gathering Certification by the Department of Business and Industry to go ahead with a live show, making it the first large event to return to Las Vegas – and the US market – since the pandemic brought in-person meetings to a halt last year.

The vast majority of construction shows have either been postponed, cancelled, or reimagined as virtual events due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Steve Sisolak, Governor of the State of Nevada, where Las Vegas is based, recently increased large gatherings capacity to 50% of a venues capacity. Nevada’s new directive requires meetings, trade show and entertainment venue’s to certify through the state’s Department of Business and Industry that they will follow the state’s health and safety requirements and protocols and adhere to the prevention principles that have remained consistent: maintain safe social distancing, wear face coverings and practice good hygiene and cleaning measures.

“Las Vegas has been the top convention and meetings destination for many years. We pride ourselves on providing the best facilities, the best service and now, the safest,” said Sisolak. “We’ve been cautious, but very focused on reopening Las Vegas in the safest way possible for you, our treasured customers, our valued employees and our entire community.”

WOC is organised by Informa Markets and will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, for which the new 1.4-million square foot West Hall expansion will be used for the first time.
