Zemun - Borča bridge contract signed

Serbian government officials and representatives of Chinese contractor China Road and Bridge Corporation have signed a € 1.9 million preliminary contract for the design of the Zemun-Borča bridge.

The 1,5 km long, 29,10 m wide and 22,8 m high bridge includes 21.6 km of access roads and interchanges.

Estimated to have a total cost of € 170 million it will be a regional link between the Serbian capital, Belgrade, and South Banat.

It will connect TENs (Trans European Network) Corridor 10 (Salzburg to Thessalonica) with Corridor 4 (Dresden/Nuremberg to Istanbul) and Romania.

Construction is expected to start in September and be completed by the end of 2013.

China's Export-Import Bank of China will provide 85% of the financing,
