The growth of North America’s specialized transportation sector has flattened out. The 2019 ACTTRANSPORT50 saw a small growth in total capacity from 1,245,246 U.S. tons in 2018 to 1,272,654 U.S. tons in 2019. The 2019 ACTTRANSPORT50 saw declines in several categories including number of employees, number of terminals and number of modular/hydraulic platform trailers/dollies.

In 2018 only one category went down, (modular/hydraulic platform trailers/dollies), which was attributed to a significant movement of assets by one of the companies on the list. Most likely this company moved a large amount of assets to Europe, where it is based.

As for our ACTTRANSPORT50 ranking, Landstar Transportation Logistics kept its long-time Number 1 spot with a fleet size of 13,449. Last year the company reported gains of more than 1,000 units, while this year it reported a fleet size that is 244 units smaller than last year. In terms of capacity of fleet, Landstar again reins with 100,675 U.S. tons, surpassing the 86,890 U.S. tons reported last year.Premium Content download button
