UK-based Aggreko has been awarded the contract to provide temporary power for the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.

The deal, which is said to be worth some US$40 million (€38.33 million), will also make the company a sponsor of the Olympic Games.

The Games will take place in Pyeongchang, South Korea, in February next year.

Aggreko will provide power across 18 competition venues and the international broadcast centre, which the company said would ensure an uninterrupted television broadcast to millions of viewers throughout the world.

The company recently won the contract to provide temporary power for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, which will take place in April next year.
