This Caterpillar TL642 handler is among the first to have been built in the US under Cat's manufacturing alliance with JLG Industries. Caterpillar will have six models available for its dealers in North and South America. Shipments from JLG's McConnellsburg facility started on 25 October – slightly ahead of schedule – and the range will comprise TL642, 943, 1055 and 1255 models, and the compact TH220B and TH330B, build by JLG in Belgium. JLG meanwhile began shipping Cat–branded handlers from its plant in Belgium in late July for markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This range includes the two compact models and the TH360B, TH560B and TH580B. The JLG and Cat–branded handlers are developed by separate groups and sold through separate distribution structures, and “are different in design, features and positioning.”
